To commemorate four decades of excellent banking, The Universal Merchant Bank (UMB), one of Ghana’s prominent and leading financial institution on Sunday [08/10/2017] marked its 45th anniversary with a non-denominational thanksgiving service in a grand style.
The event took place at the fore court of the Emporium –UMB Head Office, Airport, Accra.
The ceremony which commenced at 9 am, ushered in a number of significant special and invited guests from various institutions and associations including government.
The Ghana Armed Forces Band, the One Voice Choir and Mrs Linda Selby created a cherubic atmosphere with amazing danceable tunes that took everybody off their feet.

Mr. John Awuah, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of UMB, said previous and some existing workers of UMB worked hard to bring the bank to where it is now so the current staffs must endeavor to emulate them.

Most Rev. Professor Emmanuel Kwaku Asante, the Immediate Past Presiding Bishop, Methodist Church, Ghana, who gave the sermon, urged all UMB staff to use their profession to the glorification of God and not to think that banking is a secular profession and therefore it is only the clergy who should be responsible to glorify God. He said that whatever we are today or will be, we owe it to God and so we are obliged to acknowledge him.
