Sun Star School which was one of the most luminous and highly recognized schools in Ashaiman in terms of discipline and high academic performance,
has been closed down
The school owned by Mr. Daniel Portuphy, the owner of the Sunstar Hotel, is located at the New Quarters behind the Pentecost church in Ashaiman. It has being facing some uncontrollable challenges for some time now which has virtually led to its closure.
Ashaimanonline.com, visited the premises of the school to ascertain the reason behind the close down of the school, however, the owner could not be reached for an interview.
Some residents of the area as well as some former students of the school however believed the closure is due to poor management and also low number of admissions emanating from poor condition of services of teachers. All these, according to them, led to high teacher turnover reflecting in poor academic performance.
“Teachers are not paid well. They are not motivated to give in their best to enable the students excel in examination. The structure of the school is also dilapidated and a death trap. This has affected the image of the school and parents don’t want to take the risk of keeping their wards there,” Albert Amegashie, an old student of the school reveled to ashaimanonline.com.
“The school has been sold to an individual who intends to use it for another purpose,” he added.
