The history of career programs everywhere is based on the principle of service to children. Some children, are unable to know the career path they would want to ‘trek’. Even the few who love a particular career, do not have the details about the career and seem totally lost.

Crystal Wilhelm educational complex has demonstrated its preparedness to shaping the young generation to take over the mantle of leadership and production in the future by organizing a Career Day programme for its pupils.

This significant programme took place at the premises of Crystal Whihelm Education Complex on Friday [14/07/2017] at 9:00 am.

The event was graced by a host of professionals from different career fields. Officers from the Ghana National Fire Service, the Police service, The Health sector, Engineers, Fashion designers, among others, were present to educate, encourage and provide mentorship for the children.

The occasion was spotlighted by a successive display by the pupils. Most of the kids were adorned in different professional outfits dramatizing how these professionals from different fields carry out their day to day activities.

Two of the pupils who really caught the attention of the guests and others at the occasion – a lad in a soldier camouflage outfit and another in a professional doctor outfit with his stethoscope hanging his neck.

The glamourous atmosphere created at the event, took the entire programme into a state of admiration attracting a host of people from within and outside Ashaiman.

In an interview with some teachers and parents at the event, they expressed much excitements for such a great program organized to build careers of the children. They expressed a high level of optimism about the success of the children in the near future.

“I am exceedingly overwhelmed by the impressive display of these children. In fact, they have really demonstrated their readiness to take over this nation from us when our legs and arms become weak” – Miss Quansah, a parent, told ashaimanonline.

The occasion was climaxed with speeches delivered by the invited professionals. Among them were that by a fire service personnel, a police, an engineer, a banker and a celebrated fashion designer in Ashaiman (Pocks Wear).

The fire officer educated the children and the general public about some common mistakes people make regarding the use of gas cylinders for their daily cooking which often cause fire outbreak. According to him:

The demand that cylinders be filled to its maximum capacity when buying gas from filling stations is what mostly leads to explosions.

Repainting rusted gas cylinders expose one to fire outbreak. He advised that such cylinders be immediately changed instead of repainting them.

He emphatically spoke against the idea of keeping cylinders in the kitchen. He advised gas tubes be at least three yards long distance from the burner in order not to attract the fire for explosion to occur.

He advised gas cylinders stand on pallets instead of bear ground to reduce the rate of rusting.

“Parents, guests, pupils and all present should not hesitate to call the fire service if you encounter any blazing fire even if you have confidence in fighting the fire. Call the toll free number 0205436762 or the emergency 192 for quick respond.” He said.

“Please don’t wait till the state of the fire become worse before you put the call through. Don’t give up in calling even if the calls have not been answered.” He added.

He revealed that the fire service should be contacted in accident cases where passengers are trapped in vehicles.

He said the service has special cutting equipment used in carefully dissecting parts of vehicles making it convenient in rescuing the accident victims trapped in Lorries.

He warned against forcefully pulling the victims out of the vehicle since it may end up worsening the situations where the spines and/or any other vital organ may be injured in the process.

Most importantly, he advised against standing in the direction of the smoke when fighting fire.

“The smoke is what actually kills in fire outbreak, so standing in such direction is tantamount to signing your death warrant.” He said.
